On November 11 2017, FigTrees Organic Farms participated in Eat Drink Live New England at Inverell. This event showcases the abundance of quality food, drink and eclectic wares produced in the region. The event included cooking demonstrations by celebrity chef Lyndey Milan. Lyndey showed her passion for connecting with farmers by cooking recipes in front of enthusiastic crowds highlighting methods to use the regional produce. Lyndey used our Figtrees Organic Beef in Pendang Beef Curry and our Figtrees Organic Pork in Pork with broadbean, asparagus and tomato salad. Both dished were incredibly delicious and sampled by the audience.
The celebration of regionally sourced produce and drink continued at the Regional Degustation Dinner. Chefs from TAFE NSW did an outstanding job creating dishes using the local produce. Sugar-cured Pork Belly with Smoked Carrot Puree, Fig and Olive Slaw showcased our Figtrees Organic Pork as the hero of this delicious entrée. – It was heartening to be able to share our produce with a large number of people who appreciated quality sustainable produce.
On both occasions the meat displayed exceptional flavour due to the aromatic compounds of the healthy soil and pastures on which the stock graze. The stock have complete access to healthy organic pastures at all times, which is critical to both the flavour and nutrition of the final product.
